What we do
The project in a INTERREG project funded by the European Comission. Local authorities (LA) play a pivotal role in the community and are an important driver of market transformation towards a more sustainable energy system. Citizens should be placed at the heart of the energy system and become active market players. One of the project goal's is to create local energy communities via existing civil society structures - through development of new solutions (e.g. organisational) and adoption of new, emerging and existing solutions for energy ownership. The main project deliverable is an online toolkit that provides an umbrella for local/regional authorities, social enterprises, civil societal structures, energy cooperatives, citizen communities and individual citizens for planning their own prosumer projects, which might include addressing behaviour change of citizens. The mission of toolbox.energy is to build up the field of citizen-centred energy transition creating an advanced and specialized body of knowledge around this complex question. The toolbox will be a freely accessible online digital platform, co-created with stakeholders and end users.
Our social impact
The social impact generated by the toolbox is to develop tools are to be transferable and replicable across urban authorities. The toolbox is the result of the living lab experimentation in EMPOWER2.0, and showcases the lessons learned in involving target groups in the energy transitions barriers. The toolbox will be presented to the participants of the living labs, test it with new interested parties and target groups and their feedback will be used for improvement.
