What we do

Keeping in Touch with Elderly Parents

Adult children who have moved away from their parents can find it difficult to keep in touch via telephone. The problem often stems from the elderly parents not having a cell phone. They may be out and about shopping, visiting with friends, or getting away for the weekend. When children do not know where parents may be, a multitude of scenarios begin to run through their minds.

The Crux of the Issue

Many senior citizens do not own cell phones because they cannot operate them successfully. The buttons are too small and too close together to see and manipulate. The phone is far too complicated to figure out. Users may forget to charge the phone or replace the batteries. Calling plans can also be complicated.

Cell Phones Designed for Seniors

Not everyone needs a smart phone that can access the internet, organize every aspect of life, unlock the front door, and even sing you to sleep. Simple and affordable cell phone technology and service plans have been designed with seniors in mind. A snapfon, for example, includes basic features that can help seniors feel safe, get help if it is needed, and allow their children to reach them at any time.

Basic Features

A speaking keypad can talk users through some of the functions. Large buttons and numbers are easy to see and press. Enhanced volume and hearing aid compatibility means the entire conversation is clearly heard. A full color screen is easy to read, and a warning sound when the battery is low is helpful.

Calling Plans

These are simple and straightforward. There are four different snapfon plans that provide a specific number of minutes for talking and sending texts. No need to figure out how much storage space is needed, how many texts can be sent per month, or how much the costs will be from month to month. No contracts are required, so the plan can be changed if more minutes are desired.

Plans range from sixty-minutes a month to over four-thousand minutes per month. Three text messages equal one-minute of call time. That is the only thing that has to be remembered all month long. Stay in touch and be safe without being frustrated and confused regarding the operation of the cell phone.
