What we do
Planning any type of wedding alone is time-consuming, stressful, and can be complicated. Planning a destination wedding is more-so, even though they tend to have fewer guests in attendance. There needs to be someone familiar with the location, the options, vendors, airports, and accommodations for those attending the wedding to ensure thinks go smoothly. Knowing the local regulations for a marriage license is critical as well. Planning online can be done to a certain extent, but a consultant who can physically check out venues is most helpful.
When a Consultant is Vital
The importance of a consultant, or wedding planner, increases with the distance covered, the type of wedding desired, and any language barriers than may exist. A bride from Upstate New York who is planning a wedding in Canada, for example, will need minimal help, if any at all. A bride who lives anywhere on the main land and desires a Hawaii wedding will definitely need a consultant for many of the same reasons she would need one for a wedding in Paris.
Hawaii is made up of the most remote island chain on the planet. Seeing to every detail of a wedding long distance is virtually impossible without help. There are some hotels and resorts that offer wedding packages in Hawaii, and have their own wedding coordinators on staff. That may be the easiest way to accomplish a lavish wedding.
Couples wishing to have a small, simple, or specialty wedding will need to hire an independent consultant. Many of those also offer packages that include everything from the officiant to the venue to the flowers and music. People who want more control can communicate more with the consultant and hire for separate services.
Getting a Marriage License
Couples may be able to download an application for a marriage license in Hawaii, but must show up in person to collect it. A valid identification card or driver's license will be needed to provide proof of age, and payment can only be made in cash. There are no blood tests required. People under the age of eighteen-years will need more documentation. Details for that can be found on the State of Hawaii website.
