What we do
From bringing down blood pressure to improving levels of exercise, modern technology is helping to revolutionise the way we manage and improve health.
The proliferation of smartphones, tailored apps and wearable devices provides a unique opportunity to improve knowledge, education and awareness around major public health concerns, such as obesity, over-consumption of sugar and lack of exercise.
By giving people the knowledge to take advantage of technology they already own, we hope to improve interaction with wearable devices from a health and fitness perspective. Encouraging people to track their levels of fitness, exercise more frequently and improve knowledge around diet and healthy eating.
NHS Choices already has a page on health and fitness trackers, and we hope to eventually create an online resource, ideally with the help of major related brands such as Apple or Movado watches. If such funding cannot be found, we will turn to social media to disseminate a range of important messages, from apps available to help improve fitness to how to use wearable devices.
Our social impact
The project aims to address decreasing levels of mobility within the general public. We aim to do this via increased awareness of and interaction with wearable technology such as smartwatches, fitness trackers and approved health apps.
