What is Kodi

.

.

Our social impact

What is Kodi Kodi, formerly known as XBMC (Xbox media centre), is a piece of software that compiles all of your media into one place. All you have to do, is direct Kodi to the location of your media files. It then places them all in one location, where it then sorts the files out, gathering information such as genre, year and its artwork. Kodi then provides your files in a great looking, easy to use and navigate interface.

That’s what Kodi was formerly known for anyway, it has a lot of different uses now. You have probably seen fully loaded Amazon Fire Sticks containing Kodi, along with other devices such as Raspberry Pi’s and Android boxes. These devices have gained a lot of fame lately, and our spreading quickly. Developers of Kodi never intended for it to be used this way, and have stated that they don’t support it. However, Kodi is open source, so this is what’s become of the software.

Kodi boxes often promise free Movies, TV, Live TV and Sports. However, these aren’t provided with your default Kodi setup. You’ll usually have to install 3rd Party Kodi add-ons which provide the content. There are so many different ones available, all offering different content.

Other people who choose not to set up their own add-ons may download a custom Kodi Build. Kodi Builds provide all of the add-ons, skin and setup straight away, usually installed at the click of a button. So many have popped up, and there are a lot of options to choose from with each one offering its own unique design and style.

It’s currently unknown what the future of Kodi is, with some add-ons being shut down recently. However, when these add-ons have gone down, more have popped up to take their place. Hundreds of thousands, possibly even millions of people are currently using Kodi for third party add-ons, and it might not stop anytime soon.
